So which web browser do you use?

What’s your personal favourite? How do you choose? Is security more important or do you need something quick to load?

As web designers and developers we ask these questions on a regular basis and we download and test our sites on as many browsers that we feel are relevant. With the imminent arrival of Internet Explorer 9, how will this change peoples perception of the web browser and will Internet Explorer 6 finally die?

Our current cohort of browsers installed on our testing computers are:

  • Internet Explorer 6
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Internet Explorer 8
  • Internet Explorer 9 (beta)
  • Firefox 2
  • Firefox 3.6
  • Google Chrome 6
  • Google Chrome 7
  • Opera 9.5
  • Opera 10
  • Safari 3
  • Safari 4
  • Safari 5

Phew! thats a lot of browsers to test, but then we do know our browsers and what they’re capable of (or not) so we are pretty good at delivering websites that work on all these browsers. We even make sure that if a particular featureset is not supported on a particular browser, we’ll ensure it “gracefully degrades” and still works albeit in a slightly revised manner.
