UltraVNC screenrecorder

posted on Monday 3rd November, 2008 by Neil

Whilst scouring the web looking for some nifty screen recording software, I stumbled upon UltraVNCs screenrecorder application. I'm familiar with Ultra VNCs own remote desktop control application and use this regularly on some of our kit here at Bluebit, however the screenrecorder was an unexpected bonus.

Installation was simple and I was up and running in about two minutes. Screenrecorder allows you to record the entire screen, a fixed region or a selection. The output is to an AVI file that can easily be imported into a Video Editing Application such as Final Cut or even Windows Movie Maker. I was then able to add sound overlays, titles and fades to each slide. The only downside (which has to be expected for a free product) was the inclusion of a logo at the bottom left hand side of the screen. You can download this application by clicking here.
