posted on Wednesday 21st July, 2010 by Neil Brooks

We are excited to announce that all our hosting customers will be able to use the well respected Plesk control panel provided by Parallels. We're currently rolling out 8.3 on all web sites but looking to upgrade to 9.3 in the next month or so.

Plesk allows our customers to fully control every aspect of their web sites hosting plan, from email accounts through to statistics either using Webalizer or Awstats.

If you are not an existing customer but would like a demo, please contact us and we'll be only too happy to set up a test hosting account for you to use absolutely FREE.

Southampton Cycle Challenge

posted on Wednesday 23rd June, 2010 by Bluebit Web Design, Southampton, Neil

We're signed up and ready to go on Southampton City Councils "drive" to get people on their bikes across Southampton and Hampshire.

Whilst two of us already cycle to work and a third walks every day, it wouldn't be feasible to expect our fourth member of staff to cycle from Bournemouth to Southampton every day but the challenge is all about trying a bike for the first time and participating in some recreational riding too.

Visit www.southamptoncyclechallenge.org.uk for more info and sign up your company now.

conGuu CMS 1.12.1 update

posted on Thursday 10th June, 2010 by Bluebit Web Design, Southampton, Neil

We've carried out a few tweaks and modifications in this latest point release. Here's what's new:

  • VAT Support for ConGuu cart. This gives us the ability to set and change VAT rates and display a company VAT number when sending out e-mail payment notifications. Additionally, when entering the price for your product the total including VAT is automatically generated as you type so you can see how much the product will cost including and not including VAT. Optional terms and conditions for checkout process. This can now be added and checked against before a transaction is allowed.
  • Fixed password request page, invalid path prevented page from loading.
  • Fixed the results per page on users manager. A missing condition prevented it from working correctly.
  • Article manager section drop down filter now works in conjunction with the searchable keywords box.
  • Improved search functionality on user manager page, now you can search for portions of text rather than exact matches making it easier and quicker to find results.
  • Navigation that was deeper than two levels wasn't displaying correctly, this has now been fixed.
  • Added support for three new meta-tags: NOODP, NOYDIR and Googles' new site verification tag.
  • Site verification and sitemap submission to google webmaster tools. Verifying a site gives the approval to access the googles webmaster tools and additional optimizations along with the ability to submit sitemaps for indexing by google.
  • Page navigation not showing on certain pages has now been fixed.

conGuu 1.12.0 released

posted on Friday 21st May, 2010 by Neil Brooks

We wanted to release a couple of additional versions of conGuu before our big 2.0.0 launch due in July 2010. To this end we have released V1.12.0

This version has some additional features and some bug fixes thrown in for good measure:

  • Upadated e-commerce shopping cart module installed - Our shopping cart module brings the power of e-commerce to ConGuu, which supports the use of industry standard SSL certificates and secure https:// transactions to transmit sensitive information from server to server via high strength encryption methods, making it virtually impossible for anyone to intercept. The cart also supports digital products with a secure obfuscation URL link method to keep your digital products from being exploited.
  • Image cache naming method has changed. Before cached images used by the web server were stored with md5 encrypted names. Now they are stored with regular names to improve search engine visibility. Additionally a bug was fixed with the cached images, so now the image file updates automatically when an image with the same name is uploaded. Previously, images uploaded with the same name as an existing image would not update.
  • Image names now support blank spaces, plus symbols (+) and various other uncommon characters used for file names.
  • New versioning system - ConGuu has been promoted to live within an SVN development repository and we now have to ability to roll out seamless updates with zero downtime through improved versioning methods on the server.
  • XML feed compatibility enhanced through numerous minor tweaks to the formatting.

If you'd like to test drive a demo of our Content Management System, conGuu, head over to www.conguu.com and click the demo button.
